So, it’s been couple of weeks after the launch of Nexus 5 in US market, we are definitely seeing some positive advantages of the Android 4.4 Kitkat. The Android kitkat updates brings series of improvements to the Android 4.3 Jelly bean. Some of the key highlighting changes are improved Google Now with deeper integration and visual changes to the user interface.

Features of Android 4.4 Kitkat

Here’s the list of some of the top 5 features of Android 4.4 Kitkat.

User Interface:

The user interface on the Android 4.4 Kitkat has improved a lot. The taskbar and the navigation bar; both are now translucent. Earlier, both these bars were full black with blue colored icons on top. These blue colored icons from the top have also been changed to the white color. There is a new transition effect when you open the app launcher. Oh! And did I mention new Google Launcher? This launcher now brings the Google now onto the left side. You can just swipe to the right from home panel and you’ll find Google Now with bunch of new cards.

The other features include seek bar on the lockscreen for music and movies apps. In fact, new emoji icons have also been added inside the default keyboard to help you express your feelings.

Updated Dialer with Caller ID:

The all new updated dialer is now intelligent. It automatically lists contacts based on the people with whom you’re talking. The person, with whom you’re talking a lot, will come on the top. Users are now able to search for the businesses near to your locality. In addition to this, if you get a call from any business company and if that company has that number listed on the google maps, you’ll see the name automatically popping up on your screen (without even saving the actual name in your contacts).

Messaging is now Hangouts:

Yes, Google has merged messaging app with the hangouts. This is perhaps little difficult to cope up with, however you’ll eventually get used to it. Google Hangouts app now allows you to share the locations and images.

PS: If you want a separate messaging app, you can still use any 3rd party messaging app.

Cloud Printing:

Users can now easily print their documents with cloud printing. Though, this is limited to few vendors, the list will grow as the time passes. The HP and Google have already collaborated to bring the unified experience for cloud printing.  With the dedicated apps for cloud printing, you can easily find available printers and change the paper size.

Screen Recording (Video):

Till now, you were able to take the screenshots of your android phone easily. Well, now you can record the video of your device’s screen. This video is stored in .MP4 format. The screen recording feature is quite helpful to the developers and app/game reviewers.
